With over 13 years of experience in the Canadian immigration industry, Azher has built a reputation as a trusted expert in the field. Azher is a licensed Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) in good standing with the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC) and graduated with honours from the Immigration Practitioner Program.
Azher began his career working with Cecil L. Rotenberg, Q.C., widely respected as the "Grandfather" or senior statesman of Canadian immigration law. From there, he worked at prominent boutique and corporate law firms in Toronto, handling both Canadian and cross-border U.S. immigration matters. His corporate experience includes tenure at Fragomen, the leading global immigration services firm, where he supported Fortune 500 companies with obtaining work permits under both the International Mobility Program and the Temporary Foreign Worker Program.
Over the years, Azher has managed an extensive variety of immigration files ranging from work permits, study permits, and visitor records to sponsorships (including those involving de facto family members), Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIAs), Permanent Resident Card renewals, and citizenship applications. He has also taken on more complex files like temporary resident permits, responding to procedural fairness letters for medical inadmissibility, and humanitarian and compassionate applications.
Moreover, Azher has hands-on experience in litigation. He provided support to lead counsel in matters before the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB) in refugee claims before the Refugee Protection Division (RPD), worked on appeals related to family sponsorships before the Immigration Appeal Division (IAD), and assisted with residency obligation and inadmissibility appeals before the Immigration Division (ID). Azher also has knowledge and understanding of the judicial review process at the Federal Court of Canada. While working at busy litigation firms, he provided support to lawyers at both the IRB and the Federal Court, from filing appeals to preparing clients and attending hearings. This blend of application and litigation work has allowed Azher to effectively advocate for clients from the very early stages of their files to the end and get real results.
